Welcome! We are the Sundown Ski Patrol. We are here to serve you whenever
you visit Sundown Mountain. Safety is our #1 concern.
We want to ensure that you have a safe and pleasurable experience each and every time you visit Sundown Mountain Ski Resort.
We do this by working with the management of Sundown Mountain to promote the Skier/Snowboard Responsibility Code which requires all skiers and snowboarders to ski/ride in control and to respect the rights of other patrons at all times.

The Sundown Ski Patrol currently has 66 members.
Our members come from all walks of life and share a common goal to provide a safe and pleasurable skiing/boarding experience. We want you to enjoy skiing or snowboarding as much as we do!
Come join us! Say hello. Share a story. Ask a question. Express a concern.
We want to make your visit a memorable one.

If you would like to become a volunteer patroller e-mail or call Sundown Mountain at (563) 556-6676 or fill out an application. We depend on the patrol to see that all guests ski or ride responsibly for the safety and enjoyment of all.

Skiing, like any active sport, has elements of risk and serious injury that common sense and personal awareness can reduce. The Sundown Mountain Skier Responsibility Code, posted at the ticket window and found on the back of the trail map, must be adhered to for your safety and the safety of others. When you buy a lift ticket and use Sundown Mountain's facilities you agree to accept the risk of skiing and obey the code.

All who used the features on our terrain parks must follow the 3 Smart-Style rules.

Responsibility Code

  1. Be alert for hazards, ski/ride under control and in such a manner that you
can stop or avoid vehicles, snowmaking equipment, other objects, or
    skiers/riders.
  2. Each person must assume responsibility for his or her actions as they relate to the safety of others.
  3. Yield to others when starting downhill or entering a trail.
  4. Avoid others below you when skiing/riding downhill or overtaking them.
  5. Avoid stopping where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above.
  6. Ski/ride open groomed areas only. Keep off closed trails and posted areas
    and observe all posted signs.
  7. All jumping is prohibited except in the Terrain Park. "NO INVERTED AERIALS"
  8. No fast skiing/riding is allowed on beginner (green dot) runs and any congested areas. No racing is permitted except in designated areas at designated times.
  9. All snowboards/skis shall be equipped with metal edges and retention straps
    or ski brakes.
  10. All chairlift passengers must remain seated at all times while riding the lifts.
Snowboarders should have one foot free of their bindings when loading and
    unloading from chairlifts.

Infractions of the rules, in the judgment of the Ski Patrol, may result in loss
of your ski pass.

Know the code. It's your responsibility.
